Sony announced today the Cyber-shot WX170, claiming it the smallest x10 zoom available.
Weighing in at 119 grams, it’s certainly petite – this was probably made possible by taking away some of the buttons off the otherwise similar WX150 and adding touch-screen controls.
In terms of size, the WX170 is no more than 1mm thinner than the 21.6mm body of the WX150. Other x10 zoom meager competitors are the Panasonic Lumix SZ1, SZ5 & SZ7 which are all slightly larger and heavier, but actually thinner – at 21mm back to front.
The WX170 includes the standard high level specification list by Sony – Full HD 1080p video with optical zoom during recording, a battery life of 240 shots per charge, face recognition for group shots and self portraits, and Sony’s ever likable sweep panorama mode.
