Digital Camera Finder - Super Zoom DSLR-Like Cameras

There are few people in the world who use huge DSLR's with prime lenses.
Prime means they have no zoom. None at all. What is referred to as zoom x1.
Others (the normal people) prefer a zoom factor larger than x1.

       Canon PowerShot SX50 (x50 zoom)
In fact, they like their cameras with a large zoom as possible.

If you are among those people, then you're in luck. Big zooms are everywhere.
Zooms are becoming bigger and bigger, and cameras getting smaller and smaller.

x8 was once a huge zoom factor. Then came x12.
These days, with lenses starting at wide angles like 24mm or even 22.5mm,
a x20 zoom is the absolute minimum for a super zoom camera.

Like most compact cameras, built around a tiny imaging sensor,
their image quality doesn't hit the roof, but is decent in most cases,
especially when compared to image quality of cameras in the past.

In low light situations like in the evening or when indoors, zooming-in all the way
will require either very long exposure times or a powerful external source of light.

If no additional light is available, images will turn out either blurry - as a result of the long exposure,
or lacking detail - as a result of the sensor struggling with its higher sensitivity setting.

However, this is all true within current standards, in which cameras are expected to provide high image quality in every situation.
Lenses and sensors are capable of delivering previously unimaginable zoom power and sophisticated technology accessible with a push of a button.

In today's blooming market, there is a variety of these powerful zoom machines to choose from (sorted by zoom range):
