Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 on special - $149

Canon's latest rebate program lowers the ELPH 300's price to $179.

However, its price at Amazon is $149.

Rebate programs are a powerful tool of the camera companies for controlling camera prices, keeping them from going too low, come the holiday season.

Canon's current rebate program shaves $20 off the ELPH 300's original price and sets it at $179. For some reason, this doesn't prevent Amazon from lowering it further.
B&H and Adorama, on the other, adhere to the rebate price.

Even at the official rebate price, this is a good buy - the ELPH 300 has an extra wide 24mm lens, a usable zoom range of x5, Full HD video with optical zoom and stereo sound - all packed in a very, very small body, weighing a mere 141 grams. At $149, it's a steal.

Update (November 15th, 2011): This was a short one - the price went back up to $177 at Amazon after not more than a day. B&H and Adorama have it for the exact same price.

Update (November 27th, 2011): Black Friday rebates took the prices of the ELPH 300 down to $149. Canon’s official rebate on the ELPH 300 has expired but that didn't prevent Amazon from taking the price of the ELPH 300 even further down to $129, now matching that of the ELPH 100, which is still on rebate.
