Sony introduces nine new Cyber-shots

Sony announced today nine new Cyber-shots, ranging from x4 to x30 zooms and from 93mm to 18mm thick.

Another exciting day at the Cyber-shot front, no less than nine new models join the expanding Sony compact camera family.

Cyber-shot W690

Starting up is the simple yet worthy W690, with its x10 zoom, 25-250mm lens in its compact 142 gram, 21.7mm thick body, along with 720p video and sweep panorama.

Cyber-shot TX66 & Cyber-shot TX20

The TX20 is the beauty and the beast all-in-one. Slim and stylish in appearance, but water- shock- and freeze- proof as well, holding its own in depths of up to 16′, in drops of up to 6′ and in temperatures as low as 14°f.

It has a x4 zoom, 25mm lens, Sony’s optical Steady-Shot optical stabilization and full HD 1080p video to wrap things up.

Cyber-shot WX150

After the success of the WX5, WX9 and WX10, the WX150 takes things a step further with a much larger x10 zoom in a small, light body just 21.6mm thick at its thickest point.

Cyber-shot H90

Stepping into the shoes of the H70, the H90 takes on a wider 24mm lens and a larger zoom range of x16. It also increases video resolution from 720p to 1080p and adds sweep panorama to sweeten the deal even further.

Cyber-shot HX10V, Cyber-shot HX20V & Cyber-shot HX30V

Adhering to the latest trend of providing consumers multiple variations to choose from, these three new models bear a close resemblance to one another. All three have large zooms and wide angle lenses, 1080p video with optical zoom and stereo sound, Sony’s excellent sweep panorama mode, manual control over exposure and a built-in GPS.

The HX10V is “shy” with a x16 zoom starting at an extra-wide 24mm in a compact 234 gram body, taking the role of the inexpensive alternative.

Moving up, the HX20V has a x20 zoom, which has become the new compact-zoom standard (see the Canon PowerShot SX260, Panasonic Lumix ZS20 and FujiFilm FinePix F770EXR) and a closer macro range of 1cm.

The queen of this series is the HX30V, which adds built-in wireless capabilities to the mix, allowing the transferring of images to your computer or uploading them to the web, cable free.

Cyber-shot HX200V

Replacing the mighty HX100V with few external changes, the HX200V gives a generous x30 zoom starting at a wide-enough 27mm and ending at an extra-long tele of 810mm.

Among other features in its long list, the HX200V has an articulating LCD screen, an electronic viewfinder, 1080p video with optical zoom and stereo sound, manual control over exposure, sweep panorama and a built-in GPS.
