New tough Olympus TG-1 leaked

A new tough camera is coming from Olympus, with the standard 6.6' shockproof and 40' waterproof, but with an extra large max f/2.0 aperture.

Thanks to PhotoRumors for sighting the new camera on bestbuy.

It seems that Olympus are about to introduce a new player in the rugged field. The new TG-1 will be 6.6' shockproof and 40' waterproof, which is nice but not ground breaking - but will also have a max aperture setting of f/2.0 on its x4 zoom, 25-100mm lens.

This brings low-light capabilities into the world of rugged cameras, unmatched by any other water- shock- or freeze-proof camera. The TG-1 is taking a shot at the throne.

Olympus TG-1

If all details are correct, the TG-1 will have a 1/2.3" CMOS sensor capable of full HD video recording with stereo sound, a built-in GPS, a minimal focusing distance (that's long for macro) of 1 cm and will be selling for $399.

Update (May 8th, 2012): All details were correct! See this updated post.

I have had two of those tough Olympuses and they both leaked.
Literally. No scuba diving, just swimming pool and some waves on the shore.
