The new Olympus Tough TG-1 dives like no other

Olympus announced today their new addition to the TOUGH family - the premium, low-light, rugged TG-1.

Slipping comfortably into the king's throne of compact rugged cameras, the TG-1 brings with it a combination of high standards, never before seen in this realm (or anywhere).

As a rugged compact, it surpasses Olympus' own TG-820 with the same shock resistance (6.6') and freezeproofness (14°f), but better water resistance (40'), a wider 25mm lens, a built-in GPS, an in-camera panorama mode, stereo sound when recording 1080p video and an optional underwater-housing for those who consider the depth of 40' shallow.

As a premium compact, it offers a max aperture setting of f/2.0 together with a 1/2.3" backlit CMOS sensor and multiple available lens converters, such as Fish-eye and Tele. This puts the TG-1 in line with other low-light performers such as the excellent Nikon Coolpix P310 and Canon's aging ELPH 500.
